Safety

Physical safety:

  • Spaces should be well-ventilated and allow for freedom of movement to prevent accidents.

Child protection:

  • Zero Tolerance: Absolute avoidance of scolding, hitting, or didactic/authoritative measures.
  • Have a Child Protection Policy in place and ensure that the information is displayed.
  • The facilitator acts as a "buffer" and protector, especially for children who may experience violence in other settings.

Emotional safety:

  • Create a "democratic" and "nurturing" environment where no child is excluded based on caste, gender, or religion.
  • Ensure there are no comparisons between children (e.g., "why aren't you as bright as him?") to prevent stress.
  • Avoid positive or negative validations so there's no concerns of partiality or bias
